Oahspe Study Notes for Lika XIV

There are various levels of hell, each with its own name and number of angels. (14:3-6)

Certain beings came upon earth “fastening upon mortals”, and at times bringing death to “large cities and nations.” This death is disease, likely airborne. The Oahspe Bible says these beings “impregnated the air with poison … and these were called plagues.” (14:7)

Reference to three resurrections (14:8)

Angels that “engraft themselves on mortals, becoming as a twin spirit to the one corporeal body” are referred to as reincarnated spirits. (14:9) In contrast, certain spirits took control of infants not permitting their souls to progress, growing as the infant grew. These spirits are referred to as “damons.” The term damon (daemon) is Latin, referring to lesser deities and spirits. Faithists view these as harmful spirits.

Other spirits “who inhabit humans” to consume the same foods and drinks, are “absorbing the strength and life of mortals.” These are referred to as Uzians or vampires. (14:10) When a human dies, the spirit moves to another host. (14:12)

Any being that is not to be resurrected is referred to as a druja. (14:11)

The existence of various types of angels who engraft themselves on mortals is the result of false teaching, pride and rejection of Jehovih. (14:13) The Oahspe Bible refers to these as “engrafters”. (14:18)

Lika referred to those spirits that attach themselves to humans in order to bring pain, misfortune, and misery as “evil spirits.” (14:17) A “beelzebub” is a leader over a group of evil spirits. (14:17)

Those slain in wars are in chaos. (14:20) Essene Faithists believe that those who commit suicide also enter into a spirit world of chaos, but every opportunity is made so that the soul can be delivered.
